Maintaining your RV is very important if you want to keep it running and retain its value. That's why we're here to share RV maintenance tips to keep your unit in top shape. Here are a few RV maintenance tips that you can follow to give you peace of mind.

  1. Change Oil and Oil Filters Regularly

RVs need their oil and filter changed at regular intervals like cars. This is vital to keep your engine running correctly. If left undone, it could eventually cause your engine to seize, which could cost you more. Most manufacturers recommend an oil change every 3,000, but you should check your owner's manual for advice on your specific RV.

  1. Service According to Schedule

Servicing your RV is essential. Again, check the manufacturer's instructions for how often your RV oil and filter should be changed. Neglecting this chore could cost you more money in repair. By servicing your RV regularly, you can catch and repair any possible wears and tears early on before they start to grow larger.

  1. Replace Air, Fuel, and Other Filters

Similar to changing the oils, you need to change the air, coolant, fuel, and hydraulic filters in your RV on a seasonal basis. You could have an excessive tear and wear if you don't change the air, coolant, and other filters. Usually, we recommend inspections of the fuel filter, air filter, coolant, and hydraulic filters at every oil change.

  1. Have Your Brakes Checked

Brake maintenance should be on your checklist. Keeping your brakes maintained is vital for your safety as well as those of everyone else on the road. Maintain the wheel bearings and ensure that they are lubricated. Also, make sure your brakes have enough material on them and that they're working properly.

  1. Take Care of Your Sewer System

Make sure you maintain your RV's wastewater system, whether it is gray water or black water systems. If you don't take care of your RV's water system, you will get excessive buildup, which may cause operation failure, clogging, and valves seizing. It's also important to empty the holding tank as well to prevent unwanted backup.

  1. Check Your Tire Pressure

Check your tire pressure and Inflate based on proper specifications. Keep lug nuts tightened to appropriate torque settings. Also, your tires need to be protected appropriately with RV tires cover to guard against certain unpredictable damages.

  1. Check Your Batteries Regularly

A dead RV battery is the last thing you could ever think of happening on your camping trip. Check your batteries before your trip. Make sure you always have a fully charged battery at all times. Deep cycle batteries can last up to 5 years and should be replaced after their life cycle.

Taking the time to do some preventative maintenance to your RVs will pay significant returns down the road. Perform these easy upkeep tasks, and you'll thank yourself.
